Sum of values from different categorys in to total rating

Hello all,

I am very new to Power Bi, so please excuse my lack of knowledge 😉

So I have this table with categories (1-6) and products (A-E). Each product gets a rating for each category.

In the second visulization you can select the categorys to be shown and the colors stand for each product with their rating in this category. In the first graph you see the average total rating of the combined category for each product.

What I am trying to achieve is a variable changing total rating based on the categories you select. Means:

Right now the total rating was calculated in an Excel file. You can only choose the products which are shown.

I want the total rating shown to be different depending on which category (1-6) you select, so that both Visulizations are connected. E.g.: The user selects category 2,3 and 5 and the first Graph only shows the sum of the values of the selected category/columns.

Would that be possible? I already tried a couple of things but nothing seemed to work.

Hi @bi_user_247 ,

You can create two slicers and two visuals in Power BI Desktop. Hold down [CTRL] to multiselect values on the slicer .Then the result is as follows.

Hi @bi_user_247 ,

When you refer to total Rating what do you mean? How are you calculating it in Excel?

Not abble to replicate you charts with the same values using the data you presented can you please elaborate a little better on the final result you need?

Regards

Miguel Félix
