String values changing between PowerQuery and PowerBI Desktop

Hello!

I am currently experiencing issues with string values. In PowerQuery, the table and its values are shown in the correct way, exactly like they are in the database. However, in PowerBI Desktop the values are changed. The problem is in the third column. In PowerQuery, the first row is populated with "support tickets" and the second - "Support tickets". However, in PowerBI Desktop both rows are shown in the same way - "support tickets".

There aren't any changes applied to the table in PowerQuery - only the columns have been renamed. This report has been live for more than a year now and this issue is from this week.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Hi @pulpfiction ,

This is by design. Power BI workbook uses a case insensitive language setting. As a result, string in the same column which differ only by cases will be consolidated into a single string depending on whichever happens to be imported first. Query Editor UI displays the strings in the original case before the Import, Data View shows the strings after the Import. You can try the workaruond which provide in the following link:

I am posting the screenshots again, as they are too small in the first post.
