Strange problem with slicer and visual

I have a rather strange problem with a slicer and a visual. I have a slider slicer with a pie chart visual. When I move the left side of the slicer the visual disappears completely. If I move the right side of the slicer I can still see the visual. Either way, nothing changes with the visual although with the boxed type slicer it changes. Anyone ever seen something like this before?

Hi,

According to your description,

For the first problem that the visual disappear when you move to the left side, I create some data and measure to test:

Index = GENERATESERIES(0, 10, 1)

Measure = Index*0.5

When I move the slicer single value to the left side, it shows blank:

So check whether you used single value as slicer and to calculate.

For your second problem that visual has no changing when move to right side,

Please check your pie chart visual’s filter:

And remember to enable the interaction between slicer and pie chart visual.

@v-gizhi-msft How do I tell if it's a single value slicer?

Hi @mwegener the filter is off when the slider is all the way to the left but is definitely on when the slider is moved. See screenshots:

Do you use a measure as a value in the visual?

@mwegener Yes, there is a measurement. I've removed the measure and replaced it with a field and it does not disappear. However, the visual doesn't change when the slicer is moved still.

Could you post the Measure definition and a screenshot of the model view?

@mwegener

Here is the measurement:

Count of Asset Type average per Total Cost =
AVERAGEX(
    KEEPFILTERS(VALUES('Task Cost By Expense'[Total Cost])),
    CALCULATE(COUNTA('Asset Hierarchy'[Asset Type]))
)

and here is a screenshot of the report:

Hi @rbartlejr ,

i don't really understand this measure.

You iterates over each Total Cost Values and counts the number of Asset Types and then you average them?

Hi @mwegener ,

Yes, it is controlled by the Total Cost slider in the bottom right. What it does is give us the average cost of the assets based on the work order cost. It's funny that this report is giving me issues. I have the same report that was done earlier and it works fine (see screenshots). The only difference is the old report was using a static Access database and the new one is being pulled directly from Oracle.

Hi @rbartlejr ,

can it be that the distribution of values in the model is correspondingly sloping?

Do you use direct query or import mode?

Hi @mwegener ,

There shouldn't be a slope - they're the same values that were previously used with some added. I use direct import mode.

Oddly enough, on a previous report, I used the same measurement and it moves and doesn't disappear when the left side of the slicer is moved.

Hi @rbartlejr ,

could you post screenshots?
