Hi everyone,
I have a doubt about the exact order of the steps that Power Bi executes when downloading any file to Power BI Desktop.
For example here my script:
let
#"Source" = Table.SelectRows(Csv.Document(File.Contents("File path"),[Delimiter=";", Columns=22, Encoding=1252, QuoteStyle=QuoteStyle.None]), each ([Column1] > "30"))
in
#"Source"
When I execute this script, does it first download all the file and then do the select or does he filter before downloading the file (downlading the file already filtered)?
I am asking this because I have a very large file that I would like to filter during the download (I don't need everything). Assuming that I can't modify the file so I have to do it with Power BI. I need to download it already filtered.
Thanks in advance

Yes, please refer to the screenshot below.

All downloaded file should can be seen in Query Editor. With your script, we can only see the filtered data after import, and there is only one step in the right pane. So it should do the filter before downloading the file.

Herbert
Even if, like in this case, the source is OData?
