Standalone IDE / Editor for Power Query

Can anyone recommend a good standalone IDE or editor for Power Query?   Or how to make Visual Studio with the PowerQuery plugin more effective.....it doesnt appear to have error identification like the native editor.   Thank you.   Charlie

Here was the secret -- for other code amateurs:

1. Install NPM

2. Look to lower right of screen in code window and click where the arrow is.   Popup will allow one to select power query
