Sort by with concatenated columns

In my dataset I have a column for day of the month (1, 2, 3...etc) and I have a column for month name (January, February...etc).

I have combined these two columns into a new column DayMonth to get "1 January", "2 January" etc. However, when I use this in a line chart and sort by DayMonth ascending it doesn't work properly and it's not sorted by the increasing numbers.

Anyone know why this is the case and how to fix it?

Thanks

afk

I think should create a column like MMDD like 01-Jan, 02-Mar would be 0101, 0302, That will sort on month and date.

Hi @amitchandak

That seemed to have done the trick, thanks!

Could you explain why my previous method didn't work?
