Sort Matrix based on latest Column Date per Record

I'm trying to use a Matrix to show all of the items in my database that are expiring based on the person it is tied to - I also want it to show the other records for that person like in the image below.

To be clear, my table has 1 or 2 records (certifications) per person.  One of the certifications is called "Privileges" and the other is optional but the person might also have one called "Provisional".  This matrix finds both of each person's certifications and shows them side-by-side with the person.

I have it sorted by date but it's only sorting by certifications that are "Privileges" and not certifications that are "Provisional".  I want it to find the earliest date between the "Privileges" and "Provisional" and sort the entire table based on the earliest of the two from newest date to oldest date.

I can't figure out how to do this.  Can anyone help?
