Sort Dates on X-Axis from Xero connection

Hi

I'm trying to put together a line graph showing data for a set period of time (Years, Months) using the Xero connection.  I can pull the data in OK, and I can sort it using the sort function on the visiualisation.  What I can't get it to do is put the dates in the correct order.  I can't create a sort column as you can't transform data or add columns to Xero datasources.  Any ideas?

Regards

Melissa-Lee

Hi @melissaleemitch ,

Based on your description, you are connected to xzero data source on power Bi service, which is impossible to model data.

Incorrect date format causes sorting errors, so you need to modify your data source or use desktop to connect to the data source to re model.

You can refer to these threads:

Not overly familiar with how data comes in from a Xero connection, what does the data look like? Are the months like Januar, February, March or 1, 2, 3? Do you have a Date field or just Year and Month?

@ me in replies or I'll lose your thread!!!

In case your month year is in a format it does not sort then you need to create a sort column.

In case you are working with a direct query, it needs to come from your database.

Refer Sort section in blog for direct query : https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Community-Blog/Decoding-Direct-Query-in-Power-BI-Part-1-Time-Intell...
