Sort Custom Visuals Gallery webpage - by Last Update Date

Okay I've been thinking about this and finally posted an Idea (long overdue)

to let us Sort by: Last Update Date the Custom Visuals Gallery

Right now on https://app.powerbi.com/visuals/ we can only sort by Most Recent and by Name.

However Most Recent does not indicate Last Update Date - it just seems to mean date first added to the gallery!

So basically you have to go through all and check each one individually to see which ones have been updated and when.

I know many people don't like the update process for the custom visuals in general.

I think this is an easy thing they can do to at least let us sort the gallery by Last Update Date so we don't have to go through all.

Okay I also posted about this here

http://okviz.com/blog/power-bi-custom-visuals-development-security-and-updates/

And as you can see Marco Russo voted for this!

I hope now we can get some traction. Should be easy for them to implement this since they already have that date!

It's always driven me nuts that you can't sort on this.

But I've been really confused ever since reading the blog post that @Sean made that comment on (here) - that makes it sound like visuals in reports will update automatically whenever the version in the gallery is updated. So I've been tracking which custom visualizations have had updates, but not actually updated any of them in my reports for the last 2 months. Since there are never any release notes about what's changed, I can't tell if they're automatically updating or not. Or am I reading it wrong? Either way, being able to sort by last update date is helpful, but maybe less critical if visuals are updating automatically.

@norahfox The update process has been frustrating and that is why I created the idea!

Because I use quite a few of them and as far as I know currently theres is no way to know/verfiy if they were updated or not!

The Facet Key's Search Box didn't function until I manually updated this month!

EDIT: Actually I created this Idea shortly after this because now I have another issue with the Facet Key.

So one other thing they could do is:

let us see by either a tooltip over the custom visual's icon in PBI or when you right-click => show version and/or last update date!

Plus I really hope going forward they include as standard at least some of those developed by Microsoft.

The Tornado, AsterPlot, Sunburst, Mekko, Histogram, Timeline - these should really be standard and included in PBI Smiley Happy
