Some accounts cannot log in to Power BI Desktop anymore

Hi all!

For different customers we use licenced Power BI service accounts, to publish reports to a shared workspace in the customer's domain (service@domainofcustomer1.com, service@domainofcustomer2.com, etc.).

Logging in to Power BI Service on powerbi.com works fine with these accounts.

Since recently however, we cannot log in at some customers anymore in Power BI Desktop. 

What happens is that we fill out the login emailaddress, then click Next, then instead of advancing to the password field, the Power BI login window goes back again to the emailaddress field without any additional notification or error message.

 

It may have to do with Multi-Factor Authentication that some customers use.
Could it be that not all types of MFA are compatible with Power BI Desktop?

Any suggestions how this could be fixed?

In the issues I found a workaround that seems to work (credits to @Anonymous ).
