Slicer to automatically unselect previous fiscal and only select current fiscal

Hello Community,

Question was asked here,

https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/How-to-show-set-slicer-to-current-month/td-p/83302

 If I publish in July, my month slicer will only show Jan through July at the time of the publish.  I choose July in my slicer, publish, and that is what is in the service.  In August, July is still the selected slicer option, so the visuals are based on last month, not this month.  Only fix is to open the desktop, refresh, choose new month, republish.

Can any one has any suggestion?

Thanks

@tejapowerbi123 , Create a column like this in your date table and select this month. It will make sure it always this month

Month Type = Switch( True(),
eomonth([Date],0) = eomonth(Today(),-1),"Last Month" ,
eomonth([Date],0)= eomonth(Today(),0),"This Month" ,
Format([Date],"MMM-YYYY")
)

Sort it on

Format([Date],"YYYYMM")

@tejapowerbi123 - Hmm, general solution to something like this is to create a column in the dataset that has a value of 1 for the current month and 0 otherwise. You can then filter/slice on 1. But, this isn't the most user friendly.
