Hi,
Apologies if asked before, did search but didn't find something so suitable.
New to Power BI (love it!). Looking for a slider visual where I can move the marker or indicator left or right. The min date on left will be the oldest date in table, max date on right the most recent. Moving slider will change date, picking one of the values, higher or lower, according to the possible list of dates in the table. I dont need any yearly/quarterly/monthly/daily features - just setting the date from one of those available in my date table.
Many thanks in advance for any help or pointers!
I feel this would be a more compact
@Anonymous , You can check for timeline slicer

Or try between option in slicer
Hi, I did try the timeline slicer but it proposes a timeline of dates for which I do not have data. Therefore, if I select a date on the timeline slicer where I dont have data tghe visualisations are rendered blank. Similar issue with "between" I believe - a range of dates (I only want to pick one), and thatr picked date must exist in my date table. Thanks
Hi @Anonymous
I didn't find a slicer visual close to what you need. Maybe you can refer to below links to create a date picker:
Build a DATE PICKER in Power BI Desktop - YouTube
NEXT LEVEL Power BI Date Picker! - YouTube
Otherwise you may try a custom visual Smart Filter, it is similar to a standard slicer but you can enter a date in the input box to select a single date.

Thanks so much for the proposals. I'm currently using the date picker with drop-down, but it's a bit clunky for the user when they quicly want toi flip between data snapshots. For the same reason the manual entry date selection would not work in this case. Do appreciate the suggestion though 🙂
@Anonymous Have you tried the 'between' option for the date slicer?

Hi. I believe the between option still dictates a range of dates, the values of which are not limited to the "snapshot" dates I have i.e. I do not have data for every day, but for ad-hoc days. Therefore if I select a date for which data does not exist the visualisations become blank. Thanks
