Show Data Point as a Table - How to Edit Table

Hello - Taking over a Power BI report from a furloughed comrade.  When using "Show Data Point as a Table" to drilldown, how is the table generated, and is it possible to edit the table?  I would like to remove columns that appear there.  The image below shows the table that appears when I select "Show Data Point as a Table".  I would like to remove some columns from this view.  Thanks.

This seems to be the only post on this topic and I am still confused....

To conserve space, I am creating quite a few of these where I have a visual with a count and then are showing the data point as a table so that the user can get 10-15 fields associated with that data point.

Do I need to hide every field that I don't want to show in the table?

Can I reorder the fields in the table?

Thanks

Hi @ConnieMaldonado

"show data point as a table" would show all columns in the table, you could delete the columns from "Visualizations" pane.

but every time we back to report and click onto this table again, all columns are still here.

"show as table" will only show columns in the visual.

The link shared by @Pragati11  is helpful, if you want to add custom columns in the table visual, please refer to this.

Thank you Pragati!  That post deals with filtering the table where as I want to edit the layout to remove columns.  I just can't find where the table layout is defined.

Hi @ConnieMaldonado ,

I don't think you can do it as it comes from your underlying data.

May you can create a sub-table with relevant columns that you want to show and use this sub-table to create your chart.

So, whenever you use Show as a DATA POINT, it will show the relevant columns coming from your new sub-table.

If this helps and resolves the issue, appreciate a Kudos and mark it as a Solution! 🙂

Thanks,

Pragati
