Sharing reports

Hi I have been trying every way I can to share power BI reports.

Is there any way that you can share a report with the general office 365 users in my company with only me as a Pro user licence?

Teams = No

Sharepoint = No

It seems to me the only way to share the reports is to do unsecurely as a publish to web code? I find this unbelievable

any help greatly appreciated

Sharing is a Pro feature. For users to see shared reports, they need a Pro license. The exception to this is if you have Premium capacity.

Rant in general:

Seems like a massive flaw. What is the point of doing report if no one can view it? We are a structural engineering consultancy and not data based, so no way I can get 50 pro licences just to view my insights and time management reports once a week.  I did note that the Pro or premium sentence is often buried in the MSdoc online and it is not as obvious as it should be. Anyway grumble over.

Understood @Pmorg73 . There are ways to do this securely without Publish to Web. You can put PBIX files out on a file share for instance. it's a trade-off for sure and it is tough for smaller businesses. @MattAllington has written numerous blog articles and may have some options. It's tough for me to call it a flaw because having a data driven culture is immensely valuable and providing sharing capabilities for free, well, I think organizations should be able to recoup huge investments in intellectual capital and $10/user/month isn't all that much. I can almost guarantee that your organization spends $6K/year on other software for the business but it is often difficult to get buy-in from ownership, I get that. Really though, for the value you get out of Power BI, it is pennies on the dollar versus any other solution I've seen with similar capabilities. Makes it difficult to vent against it considering you would spend much more on Tableau or Qlik or just about anything else. But I hear you.

I agree with some costs. For exampe we are Autodesk software reliant so have big bills there. I was just having a Monday moan 🙂
