SharePoint PBIX file and Refreshes

Hello,

I am in PowerBI Services getting a dataset and report from a PBIX file saved on our companies SharePoint site. I made some changes to the SharePoint PBIX file in the desktop version. I am having some trouble finding a way to make the changes reflective in the PowerBI Service workspace.  I have tried a dataset refresh now and an on-premise schedule refresh...the refreshes go through with no errors, however the report does not update to reflect changes made.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi @Anonymous ,

When you get data from a pbix file, power bi service will trace that pbix file if it updated. However, pbix file not auto updated when report datasource changes.(you need to open that pbix file to refresh data and re-publish to sharepoint to replace old one, then power bi service will find out the difference between cached data and new data)

In my opinion, I'd like to suggest you upload your datasource to sharepoint site and use power bi to get data from sharepoint.

After these steps, you can publish this report to service side and configure refresh settings. Then power bi service will trace datasource and refresh when datasource changes.
