Shape Map (UK) for customized sales territories

I'd like to create a map visual for displaying metrics by territory, e.g. number of customers or sales volume. I haven't figured out a way to create a map with customized regions, and I suspect there is one - hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

I have about 20 UK sales territories (across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) each defined as a collection of postcodes (equivalent to zipcodes). Ideally I'd like to have a shape map with just those sales territories. It would look something like this image 👈 (but split into more territories).

As a starting point, I have a TopoJSON file for the postcode districts as per this blog post: https://www.osinsci.xyz/powerbi/uk-postcode-area-map-in-powerbi/

In theory I assume a TopoJSON file could be made from this by mapping groups of postcode districts to territories, e.g. "North West", and then encoding the new TopoJSON output for those territories.

Is there a way to do this? I assume many companies have their own sales territories / regions that don't exactly correspond to standard geographical areas, so others must have done this before...

you should be able to create a custom map following these steps.   https://www.discoverei.com/blog/how-to-create-custom-shape-maps-for-power-bi

ive done it a few times and this process will work  creating layers in qgis and then export it out.   Using mapshaper.  If you have any questions let me know, its a bit of a learning curve potentially.
