Set y axis value in comun chart, to determine if columns go up or down.

Hello

I would like to make a column chart, this contains all positive data. I have the average data value, which I want to set as the "start" of y axis. So if the data is below the average, the columns faces down. And visa versa.

Is there any way to do this?

I have made some test and it seems like that there exists limitations in column chart.

  1. The default boundary for columns facing up or down is Y Axis equals 0. It also means that it seems like only negative data can be faced down.
  2. And another condition to keep columns face down is that you should set the start of Y Axis to Auto. Even you change it to 0, the face down columns will disappear.

Thereby, I’m afraid that you requirement cannot be achieved in current Power BI desktop. I would also suggest you to submit an Idea at Ideas.

By the way, maybe we can try some workarounds to achieve your requirement. Please check Conditional Formatting.
