From PowerBi Desktop, when connecting to a SQL Server using the servers FQDN and using either Windows Authentiation or Microsoft Account (with Microsoft Account being our perfered method), we get the error "Server Name provided does not match the server name on the SQL Server SSL Certificate". We are not using any kind of SQL Server encryption and I have confirmed that this is not enabled in PBI Desktop. Ultimitally we want to use the "Microsoft Account" authentication and Powerbi will not allow us to bypass this error when signed in with the Microsoft Account.
Why am I getting this error and what needs to be done to get rid of it.
@Anonymous , refer if this can help to solve
This seems article seems to be showing the process for enabling encryption for connections to the SQL server. What if we specifically do not want to use encryption?
That is, nothing else in our environment is using encryption and our DBA do not wish to enable it just for PowerBi.
Hi @Anonymous
I find some posts with similar issue like yours. I hope they can help you solve your problem.
For reference: The server name provided doesn't match the server name on the SQL Server SSL certificate.
