Separate data by year and month to show trending

Hi,

 

I have the below data going back 13 months. I'm wanting to show a bar chart that shows 2017 Jan-Dec and 2018 Jan-Present. However i get the below and suspect that the data for 2017 and 2018 is being accumilated into a single bar. Any thoughts?

 

The date data is pulled from a single field dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss

you need to use the 'fork' drill down
