Selectedvalue, user input

I'm struggling with selectedvalue, I setup a single value slicer to get the user input on productivity ratio.

Labor_Productivity_Ratio = GENERATESERIES(0.32,1.51 , 0.01)
Labor_Productivity_Ratio Value = SELECTEDVALUE('Labor_Productivity_Ratio'[Labor_Productivity_Ratio])

the labor productivity is reported correctly in the report tab, but when I use the selectedvalue from the slicer for calculation, then always return blank.

my purpose is to  selected productivity by user and then calcualte the man-hours needed, and eventually calcualte the cost.

please kindly help, many thanks in advance.

Hi @Richard_Pan

You are using it in a calculated column, this is the cause. Calculated columns are calculated and populated when they are created and refreshed. They are not able to be changed dynamically according to users' interactive behaviors in the report. And your Labor_Productivity_Ratio Value is actually a measure with the default value blank(), so it displays blank() in the column.

To use it dynamically, you should put it in measures or visuals directly. Use measures to calcualte the man-hours and costs instead of calculated columns.

some supplement information:  I want to use the selected value back to data calculation, but always get blank, isn't the selectedvalue a global variant? or I can only use that in measure?
