Security issue: Importing from analysis services

Hi all,

I've created a data model via SSAS for my organization. There are some people who may need to use desktop to create certain reports, which is fine since we have roles in the back end.

The problem I have is that whenever an user is connecting to the Analysis Service Model, they still got the choice between import and direct query. This specific person can choose import and get the dataset with sensitive information. Meaning this person can share the pbix file with basically anyone AND have the current dataset within. I would like to encounter this but I have no clue how.

Is there any solution to my problem?

Hi @Akkoustic ,

When using PowerBI desktop connecting to On-premise SSAS data source, it provides import and live connection option.

As a workaround, we can publish it as a dataset on PowerBI service, then share the dataset to other people. Please refer to this document: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-report-lifecycle-datasets

Best Regards,

Teige
