Saving pbix file to excel file

I have developed power BI report using Power BI report using Power BI desktop free version. I have done conditional formatting in the report where in I need to apply colors for some fields in the report. I have published the reports in the power BI service.

Now after publishing in the power BI service, I need to export this report into Excel format. I am not getting option to export this report as excel, but getting option to export it as CSV file. I am not able to see coloured field in CSV file.

Could you please help me how to resolve this issue? Do I need to build this report as paginated reports? Then only I would get option to this file as excel and I can see the colors in excel file? Please suggest.

Hi @ramalingappabt ,

How about copying and then pasting report visualizations from Power BI to Excel?

Reference:

Copy and paste a report visualization.

Best regards

@ramalingappabt  You don't need to use paginated reports - you could use Excel Power Query. You will need to click Transform Data in Power BI Desktop, then Advanced Editor. Copy the entire code from there. Then open Excel New workbook. Click Data Tab > Click New Blank Query. Paste the code into advanced editor in excel.

You will need to recreate the visuals/tables and conditional formatting within Excel directly.

You could build it as a paginated report, but I'm not sure that Excel file would come with conditional formatting.  Could you export your current report page from the Service in PowerPoint or PDF format to keep the colors?

You could also copy/paste your query to Excel powerquery and use powerpivot and Excel features to make your report directly.

Pat
