Sameperiodlastyear works with prior period filters but not current

I am really confused on this one. I have been using the sameperiodlastyear formula in my model for a year and have had no issue. Now that we have entered February, I have noticed the formula is returning an incorrect value. The results are correct when filters are set to any other prior period but when selecting the current period and/or futures periods results are all wrong.

Formula:   Amount wTTL PY:= CALCULATE( [Amount wTTL], SAMEPERIODLASTYEAR( 'Date'[Date] ))
