Salesforce Authentication / We don't support this browser

When trying to authenticate to Salesforce to retrieve Objects or Reports our end users receive this error:

"We don't support this browser. Try opening this page in a supported browser"

It appears this has to do with the fact that the IE11 browser is no longer supported by Salesforce. What can we to successfully authenticate?

My users have been having the same browser issue during authentication when trying to Get Data > From Salesforce Objects / Reports (in Excel).

Given it was working for Sys Admins, there had to be a Salesforce permission that meant that the authentication would be successful.

After much trial and error, and for reasons unknown, the permission that is required to make this work is:

Manage Users

So - create a Permission Set with just this System Permission, and assign it to users that need this functionality. (Or add it to a Profile.)

Is there any solution available? I'm experiencing the same issue: "we don't support this browser"

Guess the problem is with salesforce profile.

When using system admin access to connect, not problem at all. connect very smoothly.

But when change to a custom admin access profile to connect, pop up same alert message "we dont support this browser".

Hi @marijusgorinas ,

Power BI runs in these browsers:

  • Microsoft Edge
  • Internet Explorer 11. Some advanced features, such as lineage view, aren't supported in Internet Explorer. See Data lineage (Preview) for details.
  • Chrome desktop latest version
  • Safari Mac latest version
  • Firefox desktop latest version. Firefox may change the fonts used in Power BI

These browsers are supported on all platforms where they're available.

Best Regards,

Amy

You are not answering the question, Our issue is Salesforce does not accpet IE11 anymore. How can we connect PowerBI to Salesforce objects and reports now???

Were you able to find a solution? As a workaround, maybe you can try to test your connection with a 3rd party connector. I've tried windsor.ai, supermetrics and funnel.io. I stayed with windsor because it is much cheaper so just to let you know other options. In case you wonder, to make the connection first search for the Salesforce connector in the data sources list:

SALESFORCE-1.png

After that, just grant access to your Salesforce account using your credentials, then on preview and destination page you will see a preview of your Salesforce fields:

SALESFORCE-2.png

There just select the fields you need. It is also compatible with custom fields and custom objects, so you'll be able to export them through windsor.  Finally, just select PBI as your data destination and finally just copy and paste the url on PBI --> Get Data --> Web --> Paste the url.

@v-xicai ,

When authenticating with Salesforce the Power BI Desktop app uses IE11, which Salesforce does not support due to IE11's lack of security and inefficiencies. Is there a way to change the default browser of Power BI Desktop App?

Thanks!

Following up on @marijusgorinas question as I still cannot locate a resolution for this.
