Hello,
Perhaps this is not the right way to approach this, but here goes:
I have a column, let's call it "SBU".
There are two other columns that are part of an item hierarchy. Let's call them "Family" and "Group". I want to include this item hierarchy as a filter; however, which column I want to use, depends on the division.
If SBU is "US", I want to use "Family".
If SBU is "CAN", I want to use "Family".
Otherwise, I want to use "Group".
Here is what I tried:
EXAMPLE = SWITCH(
SELECTEDVALUE('SBU DIVISION'[SBU]),
"US",VALUES(Items[FAMILY]),
"CAN",VALUES(Items[FAMILY]),
VALUES(Items[GROUP]))
Hi @Anonymous ,
Maybe I'm not getting what actually you are trying to do.
Could you please share some sample data and the expected result to have a clear understanding of your question? I can do some tests for you.
You can save your files in OneDrive, Google Drive, or any other cloud sharing platforms and share the link here.
Best Regards,
Yuna
@Anonymous It looks as if you are trying to return a table of values in a measure. You can't do that. Perhaps you can explain better what you are trying to achieve. Sorry, having trouble following, can you post sample data as text and expected output?
Not really enough information to go on, please first check if your issue is a common issue listed here: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Community-Blog/Before-You-Post-Read-This/ba-p/1116882
Also, please see this post regarding How to Get Your Question Answered Quickly: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Community-Blog/How-to-Get-Your-Question-Answered-Quickly/ba-p/38490
The most important parts are:
1. Sample data as text, use the table tool in the editing bar
2. Expected output from sample data
3. Explanation in words of how to get from 1. to 2.
