Is there any sort of documentation/information as to how to enable SSO for Power BI Desktop to connect to SAP HANA. I have seen numerous docs on how to configure for just Power BI Gateway/apps, but nothing specificially for Power BI Desktop.
I saw some posts early last year that said that this was still not available, however, is this still the case?
Hello,
The SSO has to be configured on the Source SAP Hana & the Gateway Server. Nothing has to be done on Desktop. The SAML works well.
However, you have to check several things : Admin portal (Tenant Setting), Gateway Admin (SSO), User Roles (SAP) & Analytical Privilèges (SQL). For DirectQuery we recommand to use a generic user to create the dataset (database credentials) and publish it to the service. For Import mode, each user which connect to the SAP source must have a dedicated Roles.
Hope it helps,
Rgds,
Samuel
Hi @awanarslan ,
AAD SSO only supports DirectQuery. Did you choose the right connection model in power bi desktop?
