SSAS Tabular CustomData for PBI desktop, online, and in Excel

Hi,

we are looking for a solution to manage security based on a valid data source for power bi desktop, pbi online and excel.

we have a user list that will be assigned to an AD group in the Users role with permitting read to access a data source, and another AD group that will have access to another source.

The security will apply according to the group and not by user.

I test with customdata() , but it s the good solution ?

i filter a dimension with for example :

IF ( CUSTOMDATA () = "",FALSE (), Vip[Vip] = CUSTOMDATA ())

in Excel it s ok with add customdata=.... in the properties connexion

but i don't see how do with power bi desktop with live mode in ssas, which will be published online.

And for online i must mapp user with customdata ?

From the FAQ in this article: 

Question: Can I creates these roles for Analysis Services data sources?
Answer: You can if you imported the data into Power BI Desktop. If you are using a live connection, you will not be able to configure RLS within the Power BI service. This is defined within the Analysis Services model on-premises.

So I'm afraid your requirement cannot be achieved in current Power BI.
