SSAS KPI not working in Power BI (or Excel)

Hi All,

We have a tabular model that has been built in Analysis Services 2016  (13.0.4466.4) and our Power BI reports connect to this data model for reporting

I have created a 2 measures that relate to the issue I am having

Gross Sales

Gross Sales Target

Both of these measure work perfectly fine at sit within a disconnected table called '#Measures'

Within SSAS I created a KPI on Gross Sales as the below picture

image.png

After deploying the model evrything works fine and Power BI (and Excel) can use the KPI Status as normal

However the following day when I check on the report it shows the Visual as broken with the following error message.  If I open the KPI in SSAS and then click ok and deploy again, it will work for another period.

Error Message:
MdxScript(MODEL) (37, 39) Calculation error in measure '#Measures'[_Gross Sales Goal]: Cannot find table ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''#Measures''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''.

The full error log is below

Any ideas?

Thanks

Anthony

The error has just occured after about 1 hr - looks to be a different error this time.  No changes to that KPI or the related measures

Hi @anthonya ,

The error you mentioned here is usually a transient issue, which I think might be related with the Data Source connection. Please try it again and see what happens. If the issue insists, then we may take a network trace with the F12 tools to have a look first. Steps mentioned in the article below could be followed to perform the capture:
Network Capture - Edge & Internet Explorer

If it doesn't work then perhaps open a support ticket with MS support.https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/support/
