SSAS Cube Slow in Power BI

We are implementing a SSAS Cube Direct Query with Power BI. For some reason, SSAS Power BI is very slow, however using SSDT SSAS Application or Power View or Excel is Much faster.  I read Power BI converts SSAS Multidimensional models by converting MDX to a DAX query.  Is there anyway to speed up Power BI queries for SSAS, or use MDX queries directly? Any one encounter this issue or have tips? Currently using SSAS Multidimensional model.

Hi @JoeThomas592 ,

PBI is actually executing your MDX code, from my understanding the executed statements from Power BI are translated to DAX. The two queries should be vastly different. The issues you are having are most likely due to this "translation" layer and how Power BI is extracting the information into it's tabular structure. Please check the bolg Using and optimizing DirectQuery in #powerbi and #ssas #tabular
