When i try to load a query from BW with optional variables i can't seem to enter any values:
It seems like everything i type in the input fiels gives me the 'Enter a List value' error.
Any help on the format of the values field?

Hrmm i figured it out,
If i put the variable fields in the query itself (the fields that are loaded). then a dropdown box appears
We replicate directly from ECC into SQL Server. We do not touch BW. By having all theSAP tables in SQL server, you can create SQL scripts which will create any required data, which you can feed into Tabular, or Power BI.
A variable is another field, from a table, that you use to filter: that's pretty straighforward in SQL, using the WHERE clause.
The replication is in real-time, so when a change is made in ECC, it is reflected in SQL server within seconds.

daanp, there's an easier way - take a look at Simplement's Data Liberator. This platform surfaces any SAP table directly into SQL Server, ready for Power BI:
The Liberator provides any table in real time, including any and all Master Data, directly from the database, which would cover any variable you need.

Hi @TORNALLY,
Any you tube video link for demo showing data libretaor connecting to sap bw cubes & fetchng data from there to sql tables. It is also mentioned that data libretaor uses sql server 2016 as database. I believe youmust be fetching data from cubes to sql tables. Is it the case??

Hello Dnaap:
Could you please share the details about how did you achieve it?
I have an customer-exit variable in the RKF (in BEX) which is mandatory and needs to be populated in Variable Screen.
Did you have something similar scenario? Were you able to populate this field and run the PowerBI query ( sourcing from SAP BW Query)?
Appreciate your reply.
Thanks,
PowerBIStudent
Hi @daanp
Can you please share screenshot as how you have achieved it. Further, are you able to access bw reports via power bi that has mandatory parameter/variable selection like date, customer etc. in bex query designer for accessing ?
