SAP BW Connection: Infocube Technical Name VS Description

Hi all,

I'm new here 🙂

I'm not the SAP expert.  But I managed to connect Power BI Desktop to SAP BW.  However, when I connected to SAP BW, the Desktop seems to return "Catalog"  /"Infocube ?".

The issue is that for me I see the list of the catalog as "Technical name", while my colleague sees it as "Description Name".

I have tried to set "Display Options"  but it is not the answer.

Do you know if there is a setting somewhere in SAP BW for the users to see either "Description Name" or "Technical Name"?

Thank you.

Best regards,

Aim

Is the issue resolved? One of my end-user is facing the same issue.

Hi @aim29

Do you see "display options" as below

1.png

Technical names: SAP BW supports the notion of technical names for query objects, as opposed to the descriptive names that are shown by default. Technical names uniquely identify an object within SAP BW. With the option selected, the technical names will appear next to the descriptive name of the object.

Best Regards

Maggie

Just to clarify, the database icon, so called  "Catalog -  either $INFOCUBE or an InfoProvider"

Some users see it the name differently.

Some  users see the Description Name.

Some users see the Technical Name.

This is the first glance after connected to SAP BW.

I am thinking that it is a setting in SAP, but I am not sure which one.

I have tried the "Display Options", as mentioned by you, but it is not it.
