Hello,
I have a Table with Daily Budget Data and Daily Sales Data for every day in the date column. I am trying to create two new columns with a running total in each of them, based on the Daily Budget and Daily Sales Data.
But I only want to have the running totals within each month. So for the first in each month I want the running total to start, and then end on the last date in each month.
I have tried with making a Measure, but the DAX code only gives me a running total from the beginning of the year up until the end of current month. Being a complete novise on DAX I would appreciate any help.
Thank you.

@Anonymous , MTD, should do it for you. Use time intelligence and date calendar
example
MTD Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESMTD('Date'[Date]))
last MTD Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESMTD(dateadd('Date'[Date],-1,MONTH)))
To get the best of the time intelligence function. Make sure you have a date calendar and it has been marked as the date in model view. Also, join it with the date column of your fact/s. Refer :
