Report pinned to a dashboard after publishing to BI, no page tabs visible in webview

Hi All,

I have a report with three tabs one for each separate page of the report. When I publish from desktop to BI (not publishing to web) I see three tabs on the report but when I pin the report to a dashboard I only see the first page with no tabs and no other page navigation control options of any kind that I can see. So my questions are:

1. Is there any setting to make the tabs visible or invisible in the dashboard webview?

2. Do the individual page tabs come back if I publish the dashboard to the web?

3. If the answer to 1 and 2 is NO then how do consumers of the dashboard navigate to different pages?

but as it is now over a year later I presume things will have moved on .. always the optimist 🙂

Hi @hobe1,

You cannot pin a full report on a dashboard, only single pages of the dashboard. However you need to realize that Dashboards are used for telling stories, as it said on the documentation

A Power BI dashboard is a single page, often called a canvas, that tells a story through visualizations. Because it is limited to one page, a well-designed dashboard contains only the highlights of that story. Readers can view related reports for the details.

The idea of dashboards is to give a quick insight on the information, and the details are on the reports, when you pin a visual on a dashboard if the user click on it they will be taken to the reports and details.

Read the documentation about dashboards where you have the differences between dashboard and reports.

But going back to your question you can only pin one page at a time on dashboards so you would need to pin the 3 pages of your report, but in my opinion this is not the best solution.

Sorry for not replying, whilst I am not entirely on board with the notion that dashboards have to or should be limited to a single page I do get the idea so I now have a single page summary dashboard that is public facing and a more complex multipage report that is shared internally to the relevant people within the organisation. I have accepted your feedback as one possible solution, thanks for the reply
