Report level measure weird behaviour when live connecting to SSAS tabular server

Hi all, I had a weird encounter yesterday.

I was told to create some measures for a Power BI report. Since I did not own the model, I have to create some report-level measures within the Power BI report. I went on and create the measures as usual, under the "Modeling" ribbon and then "New Measure". Everything was fine up to this point.

However, about 5minutes after creating the last measure, I suddenly lost connection with the server. I tried connecting to it via other method (in Excel, SSMS etc) but still no luck. It seems that the server was down. This actually happened to me before when I was trying to create report level measure in a live connected report.

The connection was a live connection between the Power BI report and the data source. The data source is a Microsoft Analysis Server, server mode = Tabular.  Does anyone know why or what is going on?

Thanks in advance.

JC

Hi @Anonymous ,

According to your description, my understanding is that the connection to SSAS is broken when you are creating a report level measure.

Actually, creating a report level measure will not affect the data source, this problem should occur on the SSAS end, I would suggest you checking th eerror log in SSAS.

Best Regards,

Teige
