Report Bookmarks vs Personal Bookmarks

What are the differences between Report Bookmarks vs Personal Bookmarks? I am not able to see any of my personal bookmarks when I go to set an action on a shape.  I can see all of my Report bookmarks that I have created but not my personal ones.

Also, I would like to have a basic understand of how they compare to each other.

Thanks!!

Hi @tstackhouse ,

  1. Report bookmarks are created by the report designer, youll find them under the Report bookmarks heading;
  2. Personal bookmarks are created by the viewer in power bi service. When you create a bookmark, the following elements are saved with the bookmark:
  • The current page
  • Filters
  • Slicers, including slicer type (for example, dropdown or list) and slicer state
  • Visual selection state (such as cross-highlight filters)
  • Sort order
  • Drill location
  • Visibility (of an object, using the Selection pane)
  • The focus or Spotlight modes of any visible object

Power BI creates a personal bookmark and gives it a generic name or a name you enter. You can rename, delete, or update your bookmark by selecting the ellipses next to the bookmark's name, then selecting an action from the menu that appears.

More details about bookmarks, you can refer the following Microsoft documents and blogs:

  2. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-bookmarks

Report Bookmarks are created by the report author in the Desktop.

Personal Bookmarks are created by report viewers in the Service.
