Replace Values in Power BI for display purposes .. not backend data source -

I have a column name "Team" with several values:

USIT Domain 1

USIT Domain 2 .. etc.

My customer asked me to change the names to the following for a PBI report:

Domain 1,

Domain 2 ..etc.

I do not want to change the backend data source , just the values in the Power BI table . .is this possible? I've tried to  do "Replace Values" but it does not work and removes my data .from the report.

Thank you.

If you want to remove the first 4 alphabets then use the below formula as a calculated column.

RenamedTeam= right(Company[team],len(Company[team])-5)

Hi @Anonymous ,

Can you please post an example how replace value does not work. Even if it does not work, we can tweak further few things as may be needed. Pls try to give more detail, some sample data and scenario where it does not work would be much helpful.

Hope it helps.

@Anonymous

This possible only if you are not slicing by this column. You can use measure for example:

MID (

SELECTEDVALUE ( TableName[ColumnName] ),

8,

LEN ( SELECTEDVALUE ( TableName[ColumnName] ) - 8

)

normally you should use variables to avoid multiple evaluations of the same expression

Thank you for replying.  Can you give me the example using one of my values:

Table: Company

Column: Team

Current Value: USIT Domain 1

New Value: Domain 1

I see your selected statement but do not know the syntax for the value change?

Much appreciated!

@Anonymous
I have no idea why I used "8". However, you can use the following

If you want to remove the first 4 alphabets then use the below formula as a calculated column.

RenamedTeam= right(Company[team],len(Company[team])-5)
