Replace Sharepoint with Power BI

Hi Team,

In the current architecture. I have Microsoft CRM 2011 onpremise system. I have staging Area replicating data from CRM 2011 system using ETL(SSIS). I have Datawarehouse DB having data required for reporting purpose from staging Area using ETL(SSIS). I have BI, Analytics Frame work(SSAS cubes are developed from Datawarehouse DB). I have reporting framework(SSRS reports eveloped from Datawarehouse DB ). Reporting framework is used by sharepoint. BI, Analytics Frame work is used by Microsoft BI tools (Powerpivot, powerview, geoflow, Datamining )for excel.

We are upgrading Microsoft CRM 2011 onpremise system to Microsoft Dynamics 365 online. The above architecture has lot of latency and deployment time taken is more. Can Power BI replace the entire architecture as described above ?

Please suggest me better approaches

Re: Replace Sharepoint with Power BI

HI @venkiise,

Power bi can't fully replace your environment.

For 'get data from datasource to create report' part, power bi can simply achieved, but I don't think power bi can achieve 'ETL data model convert' part.

In my opinion, why you not direct get date from these datasource? Power bi support more datasources/data model than ETL support.

Data sources in Power BI Desktop

BTW, if power bi not direct contains correspond connectors, you can also try to use odata, web, odbc, oledb or other connector who support external api.
