Refreshing data in Power Pivot

When users try to refresh their data into Power pivot, sometime data doesn't refresh and they're having to close Excel or Excel shut down without any warnings. Power Pivot is connected through a data model in Excel which is using another Excel file that contains data and uploaded through connection only feature. Please can you help us to resolve this issue and thank you for your help.
