Ranking - issue with expression or value

Hello,

I am trying to rank a set of data by state using a measure that I guess would be a summarization. It has the little sum symbol next to the name of the measure.

However when I try to use it, it doesn't give me the option of choosing it.  My DAX is being written as:

Rank = RANKX( ALL( 'Data'[State] ), 'Data'[Potential], ,DESC )))

The 'Data'[Potential] part is not working.

Do I need to use another DAX or do I first need to create a calculated field that can then be used in the DAX?

@Anonymous - That symbol just means it is a number column. To refer to a column in a measure, you need to use an aggregation like SUM, MAX, MIN, etc. Check out this article and see if it helps get you to where you need to be: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Quick-Measures-Gallery/To-Bleep-with-RANKX/m-p/1042520#M452

If not, not really enough information to go on, please first check if your issue is a common issue listed here: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Community-Blog/Before-You-Post-Read-This/ba-p/1116882

The most important parts are:
1. Sample data as text, use the table tool in the editing bar
2. Expected output from sample data
3. Explanation in words of how to get from 1. to 2.
