Hi,
I am using PowerBI Embedded and create reports for end-customers (App-owned data) and I want to create a Paginated Report by connecting with my existing PowerBI dataset, in which the Role Level Security (RLS) has been already configured properly in the PowerBI dataset.
Here is the logic of the existing RLS configuration in PowerBI dataset:
- Table A has ID and data columns
- Table B has ID and UserID columns, in which the ID column is mapping to the ID column in Table A (1-Many relationship, with Table A as 1 and Table B as Many), while the UserID column is used to configure RLS in PowerBI Desktop
For PowerBI report, I have successfully configured RLS from the Manage Roles screen.
For Paginated report, I would like to know how to configure RLS in consideration of UserID stored in Table B?
Thanks.
Best regards,
Emily
I think the key topic here is that it would be extremely convenient to be able to leverage on any RLS already implemented in AAS Tabular model even in Paginated Reports. Especially, when a Paginated Report (on the same dataset/source) is used as a visual in a PBI report.
HI @Anonymous,
Perhaps you can take a look at the following document about using RLS in the paginated report:

I have already read this documentation earlier but it didn't mention about having the UserID in separate table like the scenario I mentioned above. Any other alternatives to achieve this?
Hi @Anonymous,
How you do user role configuration in your settings? You can refer to the following document about user role configurations:
Row-level security with Power BI Embedded#applying-user-and-role-to-an-embed-token
In addition, I'd like to suggest you use 'Service principal' mode and it should more secure than ‘master user’ mode.
