Quick measures MoM / QoQ absolute values

Dear Community,

hoping for your always helpful support on a potentially very simple issue :).

I am successfully working with the quick measure functions to build MoM and similar (YoY, QoQ) trends. The problem is that this function only shows the percentage increase / decrease of my vaules (I have very simple data).

Is there any way to see  the increase / decrease also in absolute numbers ? Which could be more relevant for me in most of cases?

Possibly using the same (or another) quick measure - I am not very familiar with building DAX formulas myself unluckily.

Thank you very much!

Luca

Re: Quick measures MoM / QoQ absolute values

Thanks Zoe!

I managed to figure it out with a very easy fix to the DAX formula for the % variation quick measure - I simply removed the part which was calulating the %. Here below for reference.

Thanks for the support however!

Luca

VAR __PREV_QUARTER =
    CALCULATE(
        SUM('MCU_BaseLineData'[Column1.Forest_Area_Total__c]);
        DATEADD('MCU_AllDates'[Dates]; -1; QUARTER)
    )
RETURN
        SUM('MCU_BaseLineData'[Column1.Forest_Area_Total__c])- __PREV_QUARTER

Re: Quick measures MoM / QoQ absolute values

Hi Chateaux83,

In your scenario, it seems that you want to get increase amount based on month or year, right? If so, you could try below expression to see whether it works or not

monthincrease =
IF (
    ISBLANK (
        CALCULATE (
            SUM ( monthincrease[amount] ),
            DATEADD ( monthincrease[month], -1, MONTH )
        )
    ),
    0,
    SUM ( monthincrease[amount] )
        - CALCULATE (
            SUM ( monthincrease[amount] ),
            DATEADD ( monthincrease[month], -1, MONTH )
        )
)

yearincrease =
IF (
    ISBLANK (
        CALCULATE (
            SUM ( monthincrease[amount] ),
            DATEADD ( monthincrease[month], -1, YEAR )
        )
    ),
    0,
    SUM ( monthincrease[amount] )
        - CALCULATE (
            SUM ( monthincrease[amount] ),
            DATEADD ( monthincrease[month], -1, YEAR )
        )
)
