Question about refreshing Excel data source

Hi,

I've got a question regarding data refresh.  I have an Excel workbook with three tables (1st shift, 2nd shift and 3rd shift).  Within the Excel file there is a power query that combines the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift tables into a single master table.  This master table will be a datasouce for a Power BI model.

When I make changes to the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift tables, I need to refresh the query that builds the master table.  I'm thinking if I use the master table as a Power BI datasource, when I refresh the connection to the Excel file, it won't trigger Excel to refresh the query that combines the three tables.  Is that correct?  If so, any changes that are made in the Excel file to the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift tables won't be reflected unless I refresh the query that builds the master table before saving and closing the file.

Just want to make sure I understand what the behavior will before I get started.

Thanks!

Thanks, I did test it... It looks like having Power BI do all my table unions is the way to go.
