I searched through the forums and many of the solutions involved re-establishing datasource connections. I tried this already and I'm still getting this error.
I have a report thats importing from a SQL database and several excel files from SharePoint. Initially, I set up parameters to accommodate any future name changes to the excel files, but since it didn't publish due to the 404 error, I removed the parameters and just linked directly to those files. Yet this 404 still persists.
What happened here?
This could be completely unrelated, but I was struggling with the same problem. After recreating and making changes one step at a time, it turned out to be relationship linking one of my dimension tables. The fact table had imported the ID field as a Whole Number, and the Dimension table imported the ID as Text. While Desktop just handled the mismatch, I was receiving the 404 error when trying to publish.
Once I corrected the problem, it published with no problem.
Hope this helps.
