Publishing -file is too large error

Hi,

There is a file which around 1.3GB, when we try to puslish it, it gives an error:

"The file is too large to be published. Power BI supports files up to 1024 MB."

To be noted,

We are using Power BI premium P1 Capacity. And We can't use Direct Query because Data modelling is done using various sources.

I found this artcile : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-premium-large-datasets

But, in our case this does not work.

Please help.

Hi @faizanahmad,

First, I cannot access your shared link. It says this document can't be found.

Then if you are using Power BI premium P1 capacity. It should support uploads of pbix files that are less than 3 GB. So in your scenario, first I would suggest you to verify that if your workspace is in the Power BI premium capacity. Go to Power BI Service, see if there exists a diamond icon next to your workspaces.

For more details about manage capacities within Power BI Premium, please refer:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-admin-premium-manage.

Thanks,
Xi Jin.

Yes, the workspace is a part of premium capacity.

I would also suggest looking at any columns that you do not need in your model.

Or to see if any columns can be changed to Number values, etc, which can save you significant space in your Power BI Model?
As well as ensure that any tables that are required are only loaded into the data model. And that tables that are used for refreshing but are not required in the data model are set not set to load.
