Prior Year Running Totals

I am having issues with my PY totals.  They work fine when I have a whole months worth of sales but as soon as I go to the current month the Prior Year sales disappear unless I have the date in the Table or I put a Date Slicer with todays date.

The Dax I am using is

Sales PY YTD = CALCULATE([Sales PY],DATESYTD(Dates[Date]))
Dax for Sales PY
Sales PY = IF(LASTDATE(Dates[Date])>TODAY(),BLANK(),CALCULATE ([Total Sales $],SAMEPERIODLASTYEAR(Dates[Date])))

I am very new to DAX so any help would be appreciated

hi, @RobynMoller23

SAMEPERIODLASTYEAR is Time-intelligence functions, so it depends on the date table with hierarchical structure.

you need to study further for it and You will understand after.

If you still have issue, please share some simulated sample data and the expected output.

Do mask sensitive data before uploading. and I can help you create the measure you want.

Best Regards,

Lin
