@bmarcowka seems like you are running it directly on your data table, for time intelligence you need to add date diemension to your model and then this function will work.
There are many posts on how to add date dimension using DAX or Power Query. Once you have date dimension in your model has relationship with your data table, your measure will change as below.
PrevMthClosed = CALCULATE( COUNTA(CRMCASE[OPENCLOSE]),
PREVIOUSMONTH(Date[Date])
)
