I have the personal gateway installed and I have a Excel 2016 document that is configured to pull data from a local network database via power query. All of the PQ queries are configured to load the data to the work sheet and the deta model. After uploading the file to powerbi as a dataset, i continue to get the error message "You cannot schedule refresh for this dataset because it does not contain data model connections. you cannot schedule refresh on worksheet connections or linked tables. To schedule refresh the data must be loaded into the data model."

Could it be that the data model is set up to load from the Work Sheet and not populated directly by Power Query?
Why not try and populate only the data model using Power Query and then try a refresh based on that.

Hi,
looks like what jason is saying is correct.
i think you would have created powerquery connection which loads data in worksheet and then that worksheet is mapped to powerivot model so eventually connection is part of worksheet and not data model.
you can open PowerPivot model and click on connections tab there to see if you have connections available in data model or not.
Thanks,
