PowerBI Desktop can`t connect to the model

Hello!

I`ll be glad to receive your feedback and help!

After reinstalling Windows10 from 32-bit to 64-bit I can`t launch my power BI Desktop, neither 32-bit version, not 64-bit.

Of course, I tried to reinstall both versions, also ticked "Always run as an admin" in Properties\Advanced.

Maybe I need to reinstall windows 10?

Thanks a lot

I would recommend against reinstalling you machine for now, this user has the same issue on a clean install: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/HELP-quot-we-weren-t-able-to-connect-to-the-model-quot-on-b...

I have the same issue. I raised a ticket and hope the august release will work.... For now, you can download the June version from here: https://zenatti.net/2017/07/04/power-bi-previous-versions/

The June version still works for most people.

In our case, we were able to solve it by following this recommendations

NoelRamirez, there is no logical understanding in your reply, the link you posted seems doesn't matter anything? Please, can you explain?

Hello!

One of my colleague is facing the same issue. We tried install Power BI desktop on his machine but we are getting the same error

Some of the steps we have taken

- Tried installing both 32 and 64 bit latest version (didn't work). His maching is a 64 bit Windows 10 meeting the minimum requirements to install Power BI desktop

- Tried installing June 2017 64 bit version (didn't work)

- Tried installing other versions (didn't work)

- Tried Repair feature and complete clean install (didn't work)

When looking at the application log in Event Viewer, I found the following error which reads

"The description for Event ID 25 from source MSOLAP$AnalysisServicesWorkspace1858483533 cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer."

The file name that was given against this error in event log is msmdsrvi.dll I tried looking for this file in Power BI folder that gets created after doing the installation and I am able to find it. How to resolve this issue?

I understand that this has something to do with the data model and Power BI has a inbuilt Tabular Model so I was thinking there may be an issue in that but as per my understanding, Power Pivot also uses the same inbuilt Tabular model and we tried opening that it was working.

 Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hello,

My PowerBI desktop stopped working because of this issue and I don't have any idea how to solve it. I tried uninstalling and installing the latest version, but it didn't solve the problem.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you.

After reinstalling: "Unable to start Power BI Desktop"; "We weren`t to connect to the model". It doesn`t matter I connect as a user or administrator.
