Power Query Hanging in Evaluate forever

Hello

I am using SSMS with IMPORT MODE importing frpm SQL server and only have 16 tables to refresh and it is hanging forver.  I cannot believe it.  It will not complete. I have tried:

Deleting the modals, unchecking the enable load etc etc. nothing is working!

1. It is possible that your data volume is too large and the steps in the Power query are complicated also cause this phenomenon.

2. There are some restrictions on the memory in Import, and the memory usage is limited to your computer resources (RAM). Therefore, if you have 8 GB of RAM and your report consumes 9 GB, it will fail. You can check the usage through Windows Task Manager -> Resource Monitor (https://www.digitalcitizen.life/how-use-resource-monitor-windows-7)

Hi @Anonymous ,

By seeing your screenshot it seems you have selected "Direct Query" instead of "Import" while connecting to SQL as source. Kindly click on Import radio button.

Below are the other steps what you can follow to load data bit faster:-

1. Instead of loading complete table,try to load only those columns which are required on your report.

2. Load only those years of data which you  need on your report instead of loading complete history data.

3. If you have some high level filter which need to put across all the reports so you can put that filter on table before loading.
