Hi
I am wondering if anybody could provide me some information on if it is possible to pull encrypted columns into power bi datasets.
I am currently using an azure sql database as a datasource and am looking to pull in table columns which are encrypted.
An encryption key has been provided to my microsoft account and to view this in management studio I add
Column Encryption Setting = Enabled into the connection parameters and I am wondering if Power BI has a similar method to allow me to access this in Power bi as currently the data pulls into the report in Binary Form.
Any suggestions ?

Hi @Arranafc19
It is not possible to read decrypted data in Power BI. After you import the encrypted fields into Power BI, you will not be able to see these fields in Data view unless you transform the binary columns to text columns in Query Editor of Power BI Desktop, but please note that the text columns still contain encrypted data.
See this similar thread.
If you need to read decrypted data in Power BI, you would need to firstly decryped the fields in SQL Server , and then import data to Power BI.
For reference: Encrypted Fields in Table of Sql Server Database.
